QUICK HISTORY FACTS
The history of Gonaives is significant. The Arbonite region used to produce over 40% of the worlds sugar. Control of Haiti was important to the England and France. Gonaives is also Known as the "city of independence", the Haitian Revolution was started here in 1801. Independence was eventually declared in 1804. At this time, Santa Dominigue, now known as Haiti, was the 2nd largest in dependant nation in the western hemisphere.

Gonaives (gone-nay-eeves), Haiti is our largest mission. Gonaives, is located in northern Haiti. It is the capital of the Arbonite Department, a region is the country's primary rice growing area. The terrain is combined with valleys backed directly against the mountains.
