Welcome to WeiHumanitarian.org your online resource for Water & Education International
The mission of Water and Education International (WEI) is to combat poverty and disease while promoting education, sustainability, wellness and nutrition by providing safe water and educational opportunities to the underprivileged of the global community thereby improving their quality of life
Ricky L. Nutt, a veteran school official and social activist, established WEI, a humanitarian organization in 2007 after an extended visit to Haiti in 2006.
Mr. Nutt's vision for WEI is to address the need of available clean drinking water as well as providing educational opportunities to residents in developing countries.
About Water and Education International
"Access to safe water is a fundamental human need and, therefore, a basic human right.
Contaminated water jeopardizes both the physical and social health of all people. It is an affront to human dignity." ---Kofi Annan, Former UN Secretary-General
WEI's Global Commitment
WEI is committed to providing residents of developing countries access to clean drinking water, improving their sanitation conditions and providing educational opportunities. Undoubtedly, these things are essential to improving the quality of life and sustaining health and social development of people in impoverished countries.
In response to the global clean water crisis,WEI and it's partners, have secured two additional sites for new wells. In areas where construction a well isn't feasible, WEI is exploring alternative water sources such as:
- Installing biofilters and sand filters
- Installing water pumps and filtration devices
- Alternative sustainable water systems
